President Donald Trump may be one of the most powerful men in the US, but he is also a father to five children. His family was by his side throughout his entire campaign, and now that he’s been in office for over a year, it’s time we all get to know his kids a little more.
In a previous interview with The New York Times before he was President, Donald opened up about being a father to Donald Jr., 40, Ivanka, 36, Eric, 33, Tiffany, 24, and Barron, 11. “ll tell you what I’ve learned: Children are tough. Much tougher than people think. I’m a really good father, but not a really good husband,” he once said.
“You’ve probably figured out my children really like me — love me — a lot. It’s hard when somebody walks into the living room of Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach and this is supposed to be, like, a normal life. But they’re very grounded and very solid,” Donald, 71, previously revealed. “The hardest thing for me about raising kids has been finding the time. I know friends who leave their business so they can spend more time with their children, and I say, ‘Gimme a break!’ My children could not love me more if I spent fifteen times more time with them.”
In a previous interview with Forbes, Don Jr. opened up about what it was like growing up with such a famous and rich father. “A lot of people probably think that we’re spoiled kids. They think we show up to a [hotel] opening, cut a ribbon, and leave, and that we don’t actually do anything,” he began. “But that’s not what we’re about. My father’s logic from the beginning was if you’re going to have someone dig a ditch for you, you’d better know how to do it yourself. So here’s your shovel. Start digging.”
And to this day, Donald clearly values his relationship with his brood. When he won the Indiana primary in 2016, he made sure to thank and acknowledge his family. “I want to start by, as always, thanking my family,” he shared. “My kids, they’re not kids anymore, but they’re kids as far as I’m concerned. They’ll always be my kids.” So sweet.
