It’s been two years since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt publicly announced their divorce, and even though the two have been in a heated custody battle over the past, according to OK! Magazine, Ang wants to fuel the fire by adopting another child.

“This didn’t just come out of the blue — this is something Angie has wanted and believed in for a long time,” an insider told the magazine in a previous issue. “The custody issue has been taking up much more time and energy than she expected, but they’re finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So Angie has quietly begun paperwork to adopt a little boy from Syria.”

But it’s not just about the custody battle. Already a mother of adopted children, the 43-year-old actress has a soft spot in her heart for underprivileged kids (she visited a group of Syrian refugees in Jordan earlier this year). “Her heart goes out to all those unfortunate youngsters in refugee camps,” the source shared. “She wants to adopt one of the many orphans who lost their parents in tragic circumstances and feels the time is now.”

Angelina and Brad dated for years before saying “I do” in 2014. Although they split in 2016, they’re both fighting over custody of their six kids, three of whom were adopted: Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 10.

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith star has allegedly told her children about their potential new sibling, but “Brad doesn’t have a clue,” shared the insider. “Her main concern right now is getting her legal custody mess out of the way and then going to Syria to finalize the adoption process. If everything goes according to plan, she sees this as the start of the next chapter in her life.” We wish her the best!
