While appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres show last month, Debra Messing candidly revealed that she’s looking to date and is having a hard time finding eligible men to go out with! And while host Ellen DeGeneres kindly offered to play matchmaker for the 50-year-old star, another one of Debra’s famous friends (and her handsome hubby!) are helping her out, too.

While exclusively chatting with Closer Weekly at the Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards in New York City on Tuesday, February 12, Ali Wentworth confessed she and her husband, George Stephanopoulos, are hoping to find Debra a man to date. “George and I are setting her up right now,” the 54-year-old said. “She trusts us but she can google. She googles suggestions. But she trusts George more than me.”

As for why the Will & Grace star trusts the This Week host, 58, more, Ali said, “Because she respects him, and he’s smart, and he’s not going to set her up with a male model who’s 18.” She continued, “He knows smart, substantial people. And Debra is, as you know an actress and incredibly funny but she’s smart and engaged politically and the world. She actually needs someone with some substance. We are setting her up and a few of our mutual friends … People are really helping her out.”

Ali added, “You never know. It would be really exciting. I would be like mother of the bride I would be so excited.” And even though the couple — who have been married since 2001 — are busy assisting in their friend’s love life, that doesn’t mean they don’t have time for each other. In fact, Ali and George revealed they have quite the date night ritual.

“His schedule is so insane. He goes to bed at 8:30 p.m. because he gets up at 3 a.m., so a date night is dinner at, like, 5:30,” Ali exclusively told Closer Weekly in a previous interview. She then revealed that they aim to have alone time “once a week.” She said, “We watch a movie and we go to sleep. It’s so geriatric, but we love movies!”

Ali joked that on Sundays, “We read The New York Times and maybe grope each other for a minute.” Well, it certainly seems like they’re a fun and loving couple, so perhaps they’re the best people to help Debra find her dream guy!
