A Twitter user named Madina Bashizadah took to the micro-blogging website last week to post a picture of an elderly man dining alone at a California restaurant beside a photograph of his late wife.

"The older gentleman was sitting down enjoying his meal and I noticed that he had a photo with him," she told 'Huffington Post' of the touching scene. "Automatically, I assumed she wasn’t here with us and I started tearing up because it was such a beautiful moment but heartbreaking at the same time.”

According to the Huffington Post, the widower lost his wife five years ago and now carriers a two-sided laminated photo with him everywhere. One side features a recent picture of the couple while the other shows the man and woman when they were young.

The couple reportedly met at age 17 and were married for 55 years until she passed away. Before exchanging vows, the young lovebirds were separated by WWII for nearly 10 years. They were reunited after the man recounted their story to his barber, who turned out to be the father of the man's future bride.
