Just one week after Prince's tragic death, the city of LA has announced they will hold a special memorial service next month to honor the late star.
The public service will take place on Friday, May 6 at 5 p.m. local time at LA City Hall, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced in a statement on Thursday, April 28.

"City Hall was chosen as the venue as it was recently illuminated in purple on the evening of Prince’s passing and was the primary location for his 'Diamonds and Pearls' music video," the statement explained.

Prince was sadly found dead at age 57 in an elevator at his Paisley Park home in Minnesota on Thursday, April 21.
