When it comes to choosing between her kids or her royal duties, pregnant Kate Middleton has made it quite clear — her children come first. The Duchess of Cambridge earned her esteemed title after she married her husband, Prince William, back in 2011 and now that it’s time to start taking on more royal responsibility since Queen Elizabeth is slowly stepping down, insiders exclusively reveal to Closer that she wants to make it known that her title as “mommy” is just as important.

“Kate’s top priority is to her family,” Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s former butler, assures Closer, adding that even though she’s proudly been taking on more public engagements, she still plans to remain a very hands-on mom.

“Kate will not allow royal engagements to impact the close relationship she has with her children,” royal expert James McCourt tells Closer. Sources claim that if she ever had to choose between being there for her kids over attending an event, she will most definitely put motherhood above the monarchy for the sake of George, Charlotte, and baby No. 3, which is reportedly due in April.

On Monday, Sept. 4, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess was pregnant — and just like her previous two pregnancies, she is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum — an acute form of morning sickness.

Because she was ill, she was forced to put herself, her baby, and her health first and she had to cancel a speaking engagement that was scheduled at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London that day. But insiders say that’s exactly why fans are drawn to Kate — because she is down-to-earth, like her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

“She’s so relatable to modern mothers,” Burrell enthuses. “She’s approachable and natural — a ‘no-frills’ mom who puts her family first and wants the best for her children.”
