There’s about to be a legend in the mix… literally! John Legend took to Instagram on Sept. 13 to reveal that he will be joining longtime coaches of The Voice Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton — for Season 16 of the famed NBC series.

“I’m thrilled to join the coaches of [The Voice],” John wrote. “I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.”

Sadly, fans of the show won’t be able to enjoy John’s coaching until spring 2019, but in the meantime, Season 15 is right around the corner! The Voice will be returning to television screens on Sept. 24, with John’s newly-minted spot currently being held by Jennifer Hudson

After all, if there’s anyone worthy of keeping his seat warm for him, it’s Jennifer! For those of you who need a refresher, Alicia Keys was the fourth coach on the last season. It’s OK, we know it’s hard to keep up with all of these amazingly talented people.

While fans are definitely excited to see Jennifer mentor prospective stars, there’s no doubt that John’s addition to the team has caused a lot of excitement. “OMG! We are so f—–g ready! #TeamJL,” one user commented on the father-of-two’s announcement. “Yay! Best news ever. I will be tuning in when the time comes,” added another.

John, 39, has had an incredibly exciting year. He just joined the ever-illusive EGOT club — exclusive to those who have been awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. With The Voice on the horizon for 2019, we have no doubt he’ll continue to shine (and help others do so in the process). Oh, and of course with his wife, Chrissy Teigen, by his side, life will always be a wild ride.
