Ever since she shared the news of her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis with the world last October, fans of Selma Blair have been following the beloved actress’ journey to health and happiness. But as she is typically the first one to admit, not every day is as simple or easy as the next.

In her most recent Instagram post, the 46-year-old revealed that while she has much to be grateful for, day-to-day tasks and activities are starting to get much more complicated. “I am trying to remember to breathe. I can’t believe people do this easily,” the Cruel Intentions star wrote in the caption of her post on Monday, April 8. “I hold my breath accidentally for oodles of time. That is problematic.”

The heartbreaking revelation came after Selma shared that her friend and White Chicks actress Jaime King sent her a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. “This is a huge act of love to do for someone who is housebound, people. Major. Heartbreakingly touching,” she said. “I hide in them and breathe.”

The brunette beauty also shared that she has “been unable to be in crowds easily lately” — which comes less than two months after Selma bravely walked the red carpet in head-to-toe glam for the Vanity Fair 2019 Oscars after-party this past February. “I wanted a special cane for #vanityfair dinner,” Selma wrote in the caption of an Instagram she shared ahead of this year’s event. “So … @lyon_heartedwent out and found patent leather and @bic_owen and he stitched it on. Hours of love put in. And then #tombachick made it especially magical. I burst into tears. These gifts to get me through.”

The Hellboy actress shocked the world last fall when she took to social media to share the heartbreaking news of her MS diagnosis. In an effort to bring exposure to the “long-lasting disease that can affect your brain, spinal cord and the optic nerves in your eyes,” according to WebMD, Selma hoped her story would inspire others.

“I was in this wardrobe fitting two days ago. And I am in the deepest gratitude. So profound, it is, I have decided to share,” Selma wrote at the time. “The brilliant costumer #Allisaswanson not only designs the pieces #harperglass will wear on this new #Netflix show, but she carefully gets my legs in my pants, pulls my tops over my head, buttons my coats and offers her shoulder to steady myself. I have #multiplesclerosis.” Thank you for being a beacon of courage and hope, Selma.
