Sarah Jessica Parker Talks the Now Axed ‘Sex and the City 3’ Film, Ends Any Hope of the Movie Happening

So much for that sequel. Sarah Jessica Parker is still extremely well-known, as she continues to reel in roles left and right. But if there’s one thing the actress continues to be asked about is if there’s another installment in the Sex and the City film franchise happening, and she recently opened up about that.

The 53-year-old recently spoke to iNews about the nixed film, once again hinting at the fact that it’s all due to her costar on the popular HBO show, Kim Cattrall. While discussing her latest film Here and Now, a project that was shot in 16 days with a $2 million budget, the Hocus Pocus star talked about the planning for Sex and the City 3.

“We were in the process of boarding Sex and the City 3, right when I finished this movie, and I kept telling my producing partners on that film …,” the Golden Globes winner explained, adding, “They said, ‘We’re fighting for those 53 [shooting] days.’ I said, ‘We don’t need 53 days! We don’t need 48 days! We only need 35 days.'” When Sarah was then asked if a third movie was happening after all, she said, “No, this was before the studio pulled the plug, because of what happened with Kim.”

Sarah is of course referring to the feud that occurred in 2017, where both had some words for each other. “She has felt perfectly comfortable to say lots of things,” the Failure to Launch costar once told Extra. “That’s the beauty of living in a democracy, but I have no apologies, meaning, this isn’t a catfight. This is someone who chose to talk about something, and myself. I remain grateful for her work and the role she played on and off camera for all the years we spent together.”

She added, “We went as far as we could last time and the studio said, ‘No, we can’t meet those demands,’ we were all signed up except for her. What are you going to do, right?”

According to E!News, the main storyline for Kim’s character, Samantha, in the third film would have focused on Miranda Hobbes’ now-14-year-old son, Brady, who has a proclivity for sending inappropriate photos to Samantha. So perhaps it’s best the movie did not begin production.
