Being a mom has changed Rachel McAdams‘ life completely! After welcoming her baby boy this past April, the star gushed in a new interview with the UK’s Sunday Times about her new role as a mother-of-one.

“It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, hands down,” she said, and Rachel wouldn’t want to have it any other way! “[People] say your life is not your own anymore, but I had 39 years of me, I was sick of me, I was so happy to put the focus on some other person.”

Now that Rachel, 40, is looking after a small child, she’s excited to start the next phase of her life with her boyfriend and her child’s father, Jamie Linden, 38. For starters, she doesn’t want her son to grow up in the public eye like she did, so she has chosen to not reveal his name.

“I want to keep his life private, even if it isn’t mine,” she said. Rachel added that she’s just having a great time watching her son grow up. “I’m having more fun being a mum than I’ve ever had. Everything about it is interesting and exciting and inspiring to me. Even the tough days — there’s something delightful about them,” she gushed.

Rachel added that spending time with Jamie and their son is like living a “gypsy life,” and she’s already thinking about welcoming more kids in the future. “I think there is definitely room for more,” she gushed. But before Rachel can even think about having another child, she should probably figure out how she could balance her new responsibilities with her career.

“I have clothes on and that’s a good thing,” Rachel joked. “I don’t even know what I’m wearing today. The shoes are held together with glue. Isn’t that sad? I need to get a life.” Don’t worry, Rachel. Even with broken shoes, you’re still a star in our book!
