Princess Eugenie And Jack Brooksbank’s Wedding To Be Televised In The US On TLC
Grab your popcorn, because before we know it, Oct. 12 will be here! However, since we’re all not lucky enough to be invited to Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank‘s royal wedding that day, fans can’t help but wonder if the nuptials will be on TV.
The answer? Yes! US Channel TLC will air the special event starting at 4:25 a.m. in a three-hour-long commercial-free block on Friday (it will air on ITV in the UK). However, it reportedly wasn’t a seamless deal, as it almost fell through due to the palace. “The network had the rights locked down a while ago, but at one point, the broadcast was put on hold,” an insider told Page Six.

According to the news outlet, after BBC execs reportedly decided not to broadcast the wedding, TLC hopped on the opportunity. “Reports were swirling that the BBC no longer wanted to air the wedding, coupled with the fact that UK taxpayers were outraged they would have to foot the bill. It looked like TLC was going to be the jilted bride,” the source added.
According to the Mail on Sunday, Eugenie’s father, Prince Andrew, was also working to get his little girl’s special day televised by British channels after the BBC denied it.
“From the outset, the instruction from the very top was that Eugenie’s wedding must be televised,” a source explained to the news outlet. “The BBC was approached because they have a special relationship with Buckingham Palace and a formula that works. But they turned it down because they don’t think enough people will tune in and that there isn’t enough support for the Yorks.”
The insider added, “The feeling at the Palace is that the BBC has dropped the ball. At the end, of the day this is going to be a huge royal wedding, with all the senior members of the Royal Family in attendance. But nobody wants to take the risk and spend the money it would cost to put it on air.”
Understandably, Andrew allegedly wants his daughter’s wedding to have has much spotlight that her cousin Prince Harry did during his wedding to Meghan Markle on May 19 (seriously, who could forget that day?).
Eugenie and Jack previously announced their engagement in January, and ever since, there have been multiple details about their wedding day revealed. And with the ceremony being at St. George’s Chapel just like Harry and Meg’s, we know it will be a beautiful day!
