Royal couple Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are going to delay their honeymoon in order to appear at their first engagment as a married couple — just three days after the royal wedding! Instead of jetting off to a tropical paradise or safari tour right away, they’ll instead attend Prince Charles‘s 70th Birthday Patronage Celebration in the Gardens of Buckingham Palace on Tuesday May 22, royal correspondent Emily Nash has revealed. Talk about no rest for the weary!

There has been a lot of speculation about where the soon-to-be married royal couple would honeymoon, but Travel + Leisure has reported that Meghan and Harry will take a much-needed break in Namibia.

It’s not like Meghan and Harry don’t need the down time! Not only have they spent months planning their wedding, but Meghan has endured slings from siblings she barely knows, including her half-brother Thomas Markle, Jr., who recently wrote a letter to Prince Harry telling him that it isn’t “too late” to change his mind about marrying Meghan.

“Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you,” Thomas, Jr. wrote spitefully, adding that Meghan is a “jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage.”

And if that wasn’t enough stress before her wedding, Meghan had to also endure shenanigans from her half-sister Samantha Markle. Earlier this week, Samantha admitted she staged paparazzi photos of their father Thomas Markle, who was set to walk Meghan down the aisle, but who has since backed out after suffering a heart attack in the wake of the revelations. It’s being reported that Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland might walk her down the aisle if Thomas cannot.

Although it might seem unsual for Meghan and Harry to postpone their honeymoon, Prince William and Kate Middleton did something similar. According to royal commentator Victoria Arbiter, “William and Kate left for their honeymoon in the Seychelles ten days after their wedding. Before that the couple were in Anglesey as William was working at his RAF search and rescue base.” It’s also in keeping with Meghan’s wish to “hit the ground running,” as CNN reported, after officially becoming a royal. In spite of their work ethic, it’s probably safe to say that their honeymoon will not come soon enough!
