Prince Charles is a grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren, but there may be some favoritism going on there. Express UK reveals that he may have a stronger bond with Princess Charlotte than he does with Prince George and Prince Louis. Interesting!

Perhaps because it’s been previously revealed by Princess Diana that the former couple always wanted a daughter — and when they didn’t have one, it contributed to the failure of their marriage.

“He wanted two children and he wanted a girl,” she explained in a chilling resurfaced interview with Andrew Morton, who wrote Diana: Her True Story — In Her Own Words. She then added his apparent disappointment when he saw their second son, Harry, was a boy at birth (Diana kept the gender a secret up until then). Diana claims Charles said, “Oh God, it’s a boy,” followed by, “and he’s even got red hair.”

“Charles and I were very, very close to each other the six weeks before Harry was born, the closest we’ve ever, ever been and ever will be,” Diana recalled. “Then, suddenly, as Harry was born, it just went bang, our marriage. The whole thing went down the drain.”

Prince William and Kate Midleton welcomed George, now 5, in July 2013, and it was reported in 2014 that the 69-year-old “hoped” they would have a girl, and his wish came true when little Charlotte, now 3, was born in May 2015. Another boy, Prince Louis, was later born in April 2018.

Even though Charles is seemingly close with his grandchildren (he refurbished William’s treehouse for George and even named a group of trees in his Scottish arboretum after him), it was once reported by Mail On Sunday that he doesn’t get to spend much time with them due to his royal duties — and because his son and daughter-in-law are closer with the Middletons.

“William chose the Middletons as his surrogate family long ago, even before the children were born. He has nailed his colors to the mast in that respect,” an insider revealed to the publication of the dynamic. “Let’s just say [The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge] haven’t really done anything to make it easy for him. Charles does the best he can, but there are constraints,” the source added.

“Does every grandparent want to see more of their grandchildren? Of course they do. But the Prince understands that mothers naturally gravitate towards their own families. And he acknowledges that he is in a unique position which means his time is not often his own,” the insider. Here’s hoping Charles gets to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s future baby more!
