Paula Deen Reveals How She Once Lost Nearly 40 Pounds In Only 4 Months By Eating In Moderation
Celebrity chef Paula Deen once turned her life around once she started a new diet that helped her lose nearly 40 pounds! The cooking star was forced to change her eating habits due to her type 2 diabetes, and with the help of her physician, Paula started to take her health a lot more seriously.
“Honey, I was in denial — for a couple of years,” she said in a past interview with Woman’s Day. But luckily for her, Paula’s physician was not going to sit back and watch the beloved foodie throw her life away. Paula’s doctor informed her that she needed to start making a change.
“I went into my kitchen and I threw every white food out… except for cauliflower,” she explained about her new diet plan at the time. “Cauliflower became my very good friend.” While trying to make a difference in her diet, Paula, 71, decided to try the highly popularized Keto diet that many celebrities swear by. Since her new food plan meant that Paula had to start eating high-protein and low-carb meals, she had to let go of one her favorite drinks that she would have every morning.
“I was drinking smoothies for breakfast, but one that’s all fruit will immediately turn to sugar, so I’ve backed off those,” she once revealed. And the results were incredible! According to Woman’s Day, Paula lost 36 pounds within four months, and by eating in “moderation,” she’s revealed she was planning on losing another 12 to 15 pounds. “I just needed to learn to eat normal portion sizes and not overindulge,” Paula explained.
“Putting my fork down and having a conversation has been a huge help,” the foodie added. “I want to be here for my grandchildren. I think about them every day. My daddy was dead at 40. My mother was dead at 44. And look — I’m still here!”
