It looks like Michael J. Fox just proved you’re never too old to get your first tattoo! On Wednesday, Jan. 9, the Family Ties actor took to Instagram to share a pic of his new ink. “First tattoo, sea turtle, long story,” he captioned the photo of the sea creature in all black ink on his forearm.

To commemorate the first experience, the 57-year-old went to the Hollywood famous tattoo parlor, Bang Bang, in NYC and got tatted by the extremely talented Mr. K. Proud of the work, Bang Bang shared a photo alongside Michael and Mr. K. The two stood on each side of the actor as they held a hoverboard and futuristic self-lacing sneakers from the movie’s sequel — two items that any Marty McFly fan would recognize. Take a look at the photo of Michael’s tattoo below!

First tattoo, sea turtle, long story

Bang Bang, who has tattooed other celebrities such as Rihanna, Adele, Katy Perry, and many more, took to social media to express his gratitude to the star. “For @realmikejfox thank you for the trust as well as letting us fan out a bit after!” Bang Bang wrote. “Thank you for sharing the story of your tattoo with me. Keep following that turtle.”

The artist recently shared his version of Michael’s turtle story in an interview with Inked Magazine. “He was telling me that there was a transformation for him with his career decisions when he was swimming in Saint John,” he explained. “He spotted this turtle with a chunk missing from its fin and a scar on his face. And that turtle let him swim with him for about a half an hour. He made a transcending decision right after that. So that turtle was pretty significant to him.”

According to the outlet, Michael inquired about the tattoo when Bang Bang got an email from one of his associates asking if he could meet with Mr. K. In October, Michael had a consultation with the artist and chose the date for the big moment.

However, Michael isn’t like every client. Besides being one of the biggest names in Hollywood, the actor has Parkinson’s Disease, a disorder of the central nervous system that affects rapid movements which often includes tremors. Worried that this could result in difficulties for both the artist and client, Bang Bang assured that Michael was perfectly fine. “I think that he did really well,” Bang Bang dished. “This is something that can affect him really heavily or not as much, but he had a great day today here.”

But it was a great day for everyone at the shop. Following the completion of the epic tattoo, Bang Bang said Michael showed gratitude towards everyone by making their Back To The Future dreams comes true. “Everybody is such a big fan,” Bang Bang admitted. “He signed a bunch of stuff, we took photos, and he was great to us. He was really awesome and let us be fans for a moment.” What a sweet moment!
