Meghan Markle Reportedly ‘Wants To Take After Princess Diana’ With Her Royal Work

If only they could have met! When Prince Harry married Meghan Markle on May 19, we wonder if he knew he was marrying a woman so similar to his late mother, Princess Diana. The brunette beauty was a dedicated actress prior to becoming a royal, and today, she’s still passionate about her work, just as Di was.

“Meghan wants to take after Diana. She has a lot of ideas that she wants to get started on and she’s very passionate about organizations in London and helping them out. Once she gets settled in, she’ll be more bold with going out and doing things,” a source explained to Us Weekly. “This is a woman who was used to hustling and finding her next job before her last one ended, and then it just stopped abruptly.”

The 37-year-old has allegedly always been inspired by Princess Diana. In Andrew Morton’s new book, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, the author claims Meghan “was intrigued by Diana not just for her style but also for her independent humanitarian mission.” And according to an excerpt in The Sunday Times, “She saw her as a role model.”

Perhaps that’s why she’s doing all she can to live out her legacy — especially through her work. “One of the things that Harry fell for in Meghan early on in their relationship is just how empathetic and compassionate she is,” another source told Us in a previous interview. “Meghan wants to make a difference in the world. It’s one of the reasons she was so keen to get started with her charity work as soon as she married Harry. This is her life now… She’s found her true purpose.”

That said, members of the royal family are allegedly loving how similar Meghan’s traits are to Di. “Senior aides at Buckingham Palace are already talking about just how strong Meghan’s global influence will be over the years ahead and how that will make her an incredibly important and powerful asset to the British Royal Family.” Diana would be proud!

They’re so similar that Meg has reportedly been called “Di 2” on occasion. Royal photographer Mark Stewart told Vanity Fair that her wardrobe reminds him of Diana as well. “I don’t think we’ve seen a royal like Diana until now. Meghan has the confidence in front of the camera that Diana had, and that same love of fashion and top-end designers,” he said. “Diana loved Versace; Meghan loves Givenchy. Their style is quite similar: classic, elegant, and with lots of block colors.”

Stewart added, “It’s not just her clothes. The way Meghan is with people reminds me of Diana. The way she bends down to interact with children, there’s a natural empathy and humanitarianism. The way she seeks out the cameras and actually makes eye contact. She’s terrific — just like Diana was.”
