Sorry, Kate Middleton! Meghan Markle is allegedly not having a Maid of Honor at her upcoming wedding on Saturday, May 19 despite rumors it was supposed to be her soon-to-be sister-in-law.

She has a fair reason why, though. “She has a very close-knit circle of friends and she didn’t want to choose one over another,” a palace spokesman told People on Friday, May 4. “All have been actively involved in helping her prepare for the day and will be there in the days beforehand. She’s very happy to have their support.”

Royal fans are speculating that Meghan will have bridesmaids, however, and some names that come to mind are her BFF Jessica Mulroney, who allegedly helped her with her wedding dress design and her good friend Lindsay Roth, whom Meghan was the Maid of Honor for. Her other pal Priyanka Chopra, who we assumed would be in the wedding, admitted that she’s only going as a guest, so maybe Meghan won’t even have any bridesmaids at all.

It was previously revealed that Kate won’t be taking an official role in the wedding at all, despite the fact that her husband, Prince William, will serve as Prince Harry’s best man, and her two older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will be a page boy and flower girl, respectively. Kate and Will’s newborn baby son, Prince Louis, won’t even be attending the nuptials, so it seems the Duchess of Cambridge will just enjoy the nuptials as a guest like everyone else!

“Frankly, Harry and Meghan are just happy that Kate will be there given that she will only just have given birth,” a source recently told Vanity Fair, adding, “They have told her there is no pressure on her to do anything, they just want her to enjoy the day.” We can’t wait to see how the couple’s bridal parties unfold in just a few weeks!
