Matt LeBlanc, 51, Hilariously Reveals a Young ‘Friends’ Fan Recently Thought He Was Joey’s Dad — Watch!
Now that Friends is being enjoyed by a new (and younger) audience thanks to Netflix, the classic sitcom has reeled in a ton more fans. And, in a funny new interview, one of the series’ stars, Matt LeBlanc — who famously played Joey Tribbiani on the show — revealed that one viewer recently mistook him for “Joey’s dad.” Oops!
The 51-year-old appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan on Thursday, January 24 and told the funny story about his recent awkward interaction with a teenage Friends fan. “It seems like every year there’s a new generation that watches it,” the actor began. “I was walking down the street one day, this was a few years ago, this kid, he must have been 13, 14, he’s like, ‘Oh my god, you’re Joey’s dad!'” And what was Matt’s response? “Scram!” he said with a laugh.
While it’s certainly nice to see the Episodes star on television in a talk show setting, many people are more eager to see him return to the small screen with his former costars for a Friends reboot. And while we can always see the rest of the cast on Netflix thanks to the platform’s reported $100 million payment to keep the show around, we probably shouldn’t expect a reboot of the beloved sitcom to happen anytime soon — and Jennifer Aniston may be the reason why.
“They’re making the cast offers that they can’t refuse, and Jen has been the only holdout,” a source recently told In Touch. “But apparently, executives at the streaming service are wearing her down, because they’re promising a quality reboot. It has to happen eventually — the entire world has been waiting for this!”

Then again, according to the Dumplin’ star, the reboot isn’t happening because of a lack of interest from her male costars. “The girls always say we would love to do it again, and the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason,” the 49-year-old actress revealed on The Late Late Show With James Corden.
Well, perhaps we should all cross our fingers and just hope that “Joey’s dad” gets the motivation to do another season of the iconic show — and encourages his costars to jump on board, too!
