It may have made some serious buck at the box office, but there is little about the super villains movie Suicide Squad that truly stands out — except, of course, Margot Robbie‘s portrayal of the Joker’s homicidal (but somehow still fun) ex-girlfriend, Harley Quinn. Well, now Margot, 28, is reprising the role in the currently-shooting Birds of Prey — based on the DC Comics title of the same name — and just shared the first photo of herself back in costume. Check out the photo of Margot as Harley Quinn below!

What we know about the film is that Harley has left the Joker (played in Suicide Squad by Jared Leto), and in this story gets involved with a young girl named Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), who has come across a special diamond stolen from a Gotham City crime lord known as Black Mask (Ewan McGregor). To help keep her protected, Harley (who is not known as the most noble of characters) brings together the Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Gotham police detective Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez). Reportedly, Jared, 47, will have a small part reprising his role of the Joker. Directing is Cathy Yan (2018’s Dead Pigs) from a script by Christina Hodson (2018’s Bumblebee).

“I love Harley Quinn,” Christina recently told ComicBook.com. “I’ve always loved Harley. She is incredibly intelligent; she is a psychiatrist, but she’s also incredibly silly and immature, and that balance between sanity and madness, fun and frivolity and real intelligence and heart, was such a fun thing to be able to play with. Harley takes that to the next level: she’s a little bit of everything, and to be able to write a character like that is amazing. It’s such a fun set of crayons to be coloring with … And working with Margot on the character and on the story for the last three years has been a dream come true.”

At the time of Suicide Squad‘s release, Margot spoke to the LA Times about Harley, and stated, “She’s definitely one of the more unpredictable members of the squad. She also used to be a psychiatrist, so she has an extensive knowledge of mental illnesses and how to profile people, pick their triggers, and as Harley Quinn she kind of utilizes that to just manipulate people and mess with them. She definitely does that with the squad. She’s always picking someone to be dissecting and playing off and messing with.”

Birds of Prey is scheduled to be released on February 7, 2020.
