Actress Kelly Preston decided to pay tribute to her and John Travolta‘s late son, Jett, in honor of World Autism Awareness Day — a post that has received a ton of lovely responses.

On Friday, April 5, the 56-year-old took to Instagram to share a black and white photo of her and her husband, 65, kissing their young son, as he lies in bed smiling. “To my sweet love, Jett … you are in our hearts forever,” she captioned the picture. “I send love to all of the beautiful autistic children and the wonderful people who love them. May we all shine and grant love and respect to children with special needs #autismawareness #autism.” Take a look at the beautiful post below.

Many people shared positive responses after the photo was shared. “Beautiful picture with a beautiful tribute,” one person said, with another adding, “Thank you for the post. Tears started flowing. My son has Asperger’s, thank you for bring awareness to autism.” One other user commented, “Thank you so very much, means the world to me.”

The couple’s oldest child died at the age of 16 in 2009 while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas after suffering a seizure. Jett was survived by his parents and his now 19-year-old sister, Ella Bleu. Earlier this year, the Pulp Fiction star revealed just how tough his son’s death truly was on him.

“It’s the worst thing that’s ever happened in my life,” the actor once told Us Weekly. “The truth is, I didn’t know if I was going to make it.” John went on to admit that the Church of Scientology helped him get through that tough time. “The church never left our sides for two years,” he recalled. “I don’t know if I would have made it through without their support. Our church is the number one thing that keeps us grounded.”

We certainly know no one will ever forget Jett.
