Being a member of the royal family isn’t as easy as it seems! Even though Kate Middleton appears to have everything under control when attending royal engagements in London, she is apparently hiding the fact that big crowds make her uncomfortable.

“Kate still finds these huge public events overwhelming,” a palace insider recently told Us Weekly about her true feelings. “She’s always been naturally shy.”

On the other hand, Meghan Markle thrives in these types of scenarios. Whenever stepping outside Frogmore Cottage to heads to a big event where there’s a lot of people she doesn’t let anything get to her.

“Truth be told, [Kate] envies sister-in-law Meghan’s ease in front of crowds,” the source noted, but Kate fails to notice that she also has a few strengths of her own. Apparently, she is very good at impressing “everyone with her ability to paste a huge smile on her face” — and that’s all that counts!

“She knows she has a responsibility to be front and center, given that one day these events will be in honor of her husband,” the source said. “It’s something she’ll have to work at for the rest of her life.” Since William’s mom, Queen Elizabeth, knows her son will possibly take the throne one day, she’s been taking time out of her day to train Kate wife to become queen consort.

“Kate’s been taking on new responsibilities little by little over the last few years, so it won’t be a shock when the time comes,” royal expert Rebecca Long recently dished to Us Weekly. “William and Kate are the favorite royals to take the crown in many generations, so the people of the U.K. are very excited about it.”

Who isn’t? William and Kate will make a fabulous king and queen!
