Halle Berry Opens Up About Becoming a Mom Over the Age of 40: ‘You Know Yourself Better’
She waited until she was over 40 to have babies, and Halle Berry has no regrets. “Just do it!” the Monster’s Ball actress — who is a proud mom-of-two — exclusively told Closer Weekly, offering words of support for other women of a certain age who are considering motherhood.
“You’re so much more ready to be a parent after 40 than when you’re 20,” she explained at the New York City premiere of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. “You know yourself better.”
Halle is mom to daughter Nahla Ariela, 11, with ex Gabriel Aubry, and son Maceo Robert Martinez, 5, from her marriage to Olivier Martinez. Both were born after her 40th birthday.
At 52, Halle feels well-equipped to take care of her two little kiddos. When you’re older, “you’ve done a lot of things for yourself, selfishly,” the Catwoman actress explained. “When you wait until later in life, you can really put your kids forward in a more meaningful way.”
Still, parenthood didn’t stop her from costarring in the Keanu Reeves-starring action sequel and getting physical. “It was really important to me to prove that no matter what age we are, we can do anything we want. That number should not define how far we can go.”

In 2017, Gothika actress opened up about how hard it is to juggle her acting career with her family life. “You don’t ever balance it completely,'” Halle revealed to People in a heartbreaking confession. “It’s a constant struggle of a little more time there, a little more time here, and feeling a little bit guilty all the time.”
The Oscar winner even revealed that she leans on her girlfriends for support when feeling down. “I just keep telling all my mom friends who work that it’s OK to give ourselves a little slack sometime,” she explained. “And not let the guilt sit on us so heavily and know that we are doing the best we can.” So inspiring!
