Gone but not forgotten! At the 2019 Grammys, Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin was honored in the best way possible with a special performance by Andra Day, Yolanda Adams and American Idol alum Fantasia Barrino. The trio sang one of Aretha’s greatest hits, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” during the awards show and left the audience singing and clapping. Watch the video above to see Aretha’s tribute performance at the 2019 Grammys!

Although Aretha sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer on August 16, 2018, at 76 years old, her memory still lives on today. “For more than six decades, her extraordinary artistic achievements coupled with her passionate dedication to her philanthropic work — which ranged from children’s and artists’ issues to civil rights activism — served as a testament to her power, majesty, and genius,” said Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow in a statement. “These gifts positioned her as a true cultural icon, and the Recording Academy is honored to celebrate her inspirational legacy.”

In 2011, Aretha was also honored by the Grammys and got to witness her own special tribute performance by Christina AguileraJennifer Hudson, Martina McBrideFlorence Welch and Yolanda. Though Aretha sadly couldn’t this special performance of her music at this year’s awards show, she would have definitely been proud to see Andra, Yolanda and Fantasia sing her music onstage.
