We missed you, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski! The A-list couple skipped the 2019 Oscars on Sunday, February 24 and we were really bummed by their absence at the annual awards show. So why were Emily, 36, and John, 39, missing from the 91st Academy Awards?

Though we’re not totally sure why the parents-of-two skipped the Oscars, neither Emily nor John was nominated for an award during tonight’s show and they weren’t asked to present or perform either.

In fact, Emily and John were both snubbed at this year’s Academy Awards as the actress failed to be nominated for her role in Mary Poppins Returns and the actor didn’t receive a nod for directing, writing or starring in A Quiet Place.

Prior to the 2019 Oscars, Emily was nominated for Best Actress for all other major honors this awards season including a Golden Globe, a Critics’ Choice Movie Award and a SAG Award. John was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award and took home the honor for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie for A Quiet Place.

When John won his Critics’ Choice Award in mid-January, he sweetly thanked his wife and their two daughters, Violet and Hazel, in his acceptance speech. “I got to make a movie about a love story, and a love letter to my kids and I got to do it with the love of my life by my side. So, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t get much better than that!” he gushed onstage.

“I just wanted to say thank you to all the incredible kindness that has been shown to this film — the critics, but most of all, everybody that has seen and loved this movie,” he continued. “It means the absolute world to our crew and to our cast and to no one else more than me.” So sweet!
