After becoming noticeably absent on her social media pages, David Foster‘s daughter and famous musician Amy S. Foster returned to Instagram to let her fans know she’s back — and she revealed the heartbreaking reason why she was gone for almost two months.
“You may have noticed that I’ve gone a little dark on social media. I flunked my mammogram recently,” the 45-year-old beauty candidly wrote in her caption. “I felt a lump and got it checked and yep … Breast cancer.” Although she received a cancer diagnosis, Amy wanted her followers to know that she feels blessed. “The great news is that I caught it early and although I am getting a mastectomy — I don’t need chemotherapy.”

You may have noticed that I’ve gone a little dark on social media. I flunked my mammogram recently. I felt a lump and got it checked and yep….Breast cancer. The great news is that I caught it early and although I am getting a mastectomy- I don’t need chemo. In other words I feel so lucky and grateful for this diagnosis which could have easily been so much worse if I had waited. So…if you are a lady out there and you feel something in your boob- go get a mammogram. KNOWING IS BETTER…even if it’s the worst news you can hear. I will leave you with the mantra that so many women revert back to in order to minimize how they are feeling- but in my case, it really is the truth…I’m fine. Still…#fuckcancer
The When Autumn Leaves author added, “In other words, I feel so lucky and grateful for this diagnosis which could have easily been so much worse if I had waited.” In the pic that she shared, Amy can be seen giving a peace-sign hand gesture while lying down in an MRI machine.
Fans of the songwriter left heartfelt and encouraging messages in the comment section of her post. Among the hundreds of well-wishers was Amy’s famous dad, David, who left a sweet statement on his daughter’s Instagram page. “Sorry Ames — been traveling so [it] took a while for me to see this in China here,” the 69-year-old icon commented.
David added, “It has been such a [rough] roller coaster ride for you [these] past three weeks, but I am so proud of how strong you are and how you finally have an outcome that is [the] best scenario of the worst situation. Your attitude is incredible and your message is right on point to all women out there,” he gushed. “I love you and will always be right beside you on this.”
Amy took the words right out of everyone’s mouth as she replied to her loving father’s heartwarming message. “I got a little emotional when I saw this dad,” she said. “You’ve been the perfect combo of strong and soft through this with me. Love you.”
The Rift Uprising author shared the news of her cancer diagnosis in hopes that women all around the world would be inspired to go to the doctor. “If you are a lady out there and you feel something in your boob — go get a mammogram,” she insisted. “KNOWING IS BETTER … even if it’s the worst news you can hear.”
We’re praying for you, Amy!
