“She’s killing it,” Kelly Clarkson told Entertainment Tonight about her friend and fellow American Idol alum Carrie Underwood at the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas. Carrie — who gave an exceptional performance at the festival while pregnant with her second child — completely stole the show performing new songs from her album Cry Pretty

Once Kelly saw the 35-year-old country singer’s performance, she had to give credit where credit was due. “She’s pregnant! What?!” Kelly, 36, proudly said in disbelief before admitting that she had a different experience when she was previously expecting her two kids. “I hated singing pregnant.”

At the festival, Carrie wore a loosely-fitted silver top over her growing baby bump and a pair of black boots with the same colored leggings. “I’m so happy for her!” Kelly remarked about her friend. “I didn’t know a lot of the situations that were happening behind the scenes.”

In fact, a lot of fans did not know that Carrie had suffered three miscarriages before she was able to get pregnant again. Kelly said that she felt inspired by Carrie’s pregnancy story after hearing about her miscarriages.

“It’s a really cool thing [she did]. I was emailing her, because I was like, ‘It’s so important that you talk about it,'” Kelly recalled. “I know you don’t have to, because it’s a hard thing to do, but it makes women who feel inferior, or feel like something’s wrong with them, it makes them feel comfortable, and [know] that people go through it.”

When Carrie recently opened up on CBS Sunday Morning about her miscarriages last year, it was hard for her to get through the whole interview without breaking down.

“2017 just wasn’t how I imagined it. I kind of planned that 2017 was going to be the year that I work on new music, and I’d have a baby,” Carrie sadly explained. “We got pregnant early 2017 and it didn’t work out. Yeah, it happens. And that was the thing, in the beginning, it’s like okay, God, we know that this just wasn’t your timing and that is alright, we will bounce back and figure our way through it. And then we got pregnant in the spring and it didn’t work out. Got pregnant again in early 2018, didn’t work out. So at that point, it was kinda like okay, what’s the deal?”

Luckily, Carrie kept her faith and is excited to welcome another child into the world with her husband, Mike Fisher. So far, the couple hasn’t announced the baby’s gender, but talk show host Ellen DeGeneres already said she’s hoping they have a girl!
