He may be one of the most successful and famous singers out there, but Billy Joel is still having a tough time convincing his young daughters of any of that, as they are two tough critics.

While taking questions from fans at the Faena Forum in Miami recently, the 70-year-old revealed that he isn’t exactly a hit when he sings lullabies to his little girls — Della, 4, and Remy, 2. “I make up words every night when I am singing to them,” he said at the event. “They aren’t all that impressed.” Ouch!

The hitmaker shares the youngsters with his wife, Alexis Roderick. The pair tied the knot in 2015. However, Billy also has a grown daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, with his ex-wife, iconic supermodel Christie Brinkley. The Grammy winner and his eldest child are quite close — they’ve even performed together on stage.

“I’ve been singing [his song] ‘New York State of Mind’ with him at Madison Square Garden, which is a dream,” the 33-year-old once exclusively told Closer Weekly. While Alexa Ray is all aware of how famous her folks are, she wasn’t exactly sure of it as a child.

“My parents tried to shield me from how famous they were when I was growing up on Long Island. I had no idea,” she explained. But these days, her parents have a great relationship, and Alexa has her father’s support, as well as her mom’s when it comes to her singing career.

“I literally hear her voice in my mind,” Alexa Ray explained of the lessons she learned from her mother. “She’s always like ‘posture, smile, be kind to everyone you meet.’ She always reminds me to just be so grateful and happy to be there and sing when I get nervous before shows.”

“She has endless energy,” Alexa Ray continued. “She just feeds off of life. She’s got this natural high going and she really is the most vivacious magical person to be around. It’s hard to explain. I always say it’s like blindingly bright sunshine coming at you. That’s how I would describe Mom.”

Now this is one happy family!
