We have some bad news for all of you who have been all about Amy Adams playing Superman’s lover Lois Lane: Amy may be done with the roll. Sorry.

The 44-year-old actress, who first played Lois in the 2013 film Man of Steel, recently sat down with Nicole Kidman for Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series and had this to say about her future as Lois: “I think I’m out of the DC Universe now. I think they’re revamping that. I don’t know the details.” Well that’s certainly a punch to the chest, Amy. While Warner Bros. has not confirmed the tragic news, a source did tell The Hollywood Reporter that “there’s a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn’t work.”

While Amy may not be hanging around a DC set in the near future, that doesn’t mean her career is slowing down as she just got nominated for two Golden Globes: one for her work on the highly anticipated Dick Cheney movie Vice and one for Gillian Flynn’s Sharper Objects, the latter of which Amy knows her kids will eventually watch when they’re older. “They’re going to [watch] though, and then it’ll be wonderful conversations, I think,” Amy told Nicole during their sit-down.

Amy also recalled a time while filming The Woman in the Window when she brought her daughter, eight-year-old Aviana, on set. “I forgot she was there, and I’m not a big swearer, except if I’m messing up,” Amy said. “She’s never heard me say the F-word until that day, and there must have been 15.”

Well I’m sure plenty of fanboys will be saying the F-word now that they know Amy may be done with Lois. But not to worry, as least you can all see Nicole play Queen Atlanna on another DC movie, Aquaman. Hopefully that heals your pain a tad.
