Former SNL cast member Tracy Morgan is still in critical condition following a six-vehicle car accident that killed his friend, comedian James McNair, early Saturday morning.

According to the actor’s publicist, Lewis Kay, “Tracy remains in critical but stable condition. His fiancée Megan is by his side…We are working closely with the incredible staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital to share information when it is available.”

The statement continues, “This recovery will be arduous and we hope that you can be patient during this difficult time.”

In a previous update, the publicist had shared, “[Tracy] has been more responsive, which is an incredibly encouraging sign,” but doctors expect him to “remain in the hospital for several weeks” in order to recover.

Tracy broke his leg, femur, nose and several ribs in the collision, which was caused when a tractor-trailer ran into the back of the limo bus the 45-year-old was traveling in, causing it to flip over. He underwent surgery on his leg yesterday.

The driver of the truck, Kevin Roper, 35, is being charged with vehicular homicide and four counts of assault by auto. He reportedly fell asleep at the wheel after staying awake for more than 24 hours, a criminal complaint states.

The 30 Rock star’s family said in a statement they are “tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

Three other people traveling with Tracy were also hospitalized with injuries, including fellow comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton. All of the men were traveling back from a gig in Dover, Del. when the accident occurred.
