Tracy Morgan has revealed his daughter, Maven, helped him through his painful car crash recovery.

“That’s the reason why I survived, for her, for her and my wife. They [are] my star players,” the 47-year-old actor said during a Monday, Jan. 18 appearance on The Tonight Show.

“She said ‘dada’ when I came home,” he continued. “I remember, I was in that wheelchair and I [saw] her. She was 14 months and I [saw] her take her first steps. And it inspired me to get out [of] the wheelchair and take my first steps.”

Tracy suffered a broken leg, nose and ribs in addition to a traumatic brain injury when a Walmart truck slammed into a limo van carrying the star and his friends on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014. His friend, James McNair, was killed in the accident. The star then spent 10 days in the ICU before entering a rehab facility to undergo extensive physical therapy.

Tracy and his wife, Megan Wollover began dating in 2011 and married in August 2015. The couple welcomed their two-year-old daughter, Maven, in July 2013. The 30 Rock star is also a dad to three adult sons, Gitrid, Malcolm and Tracy Jr., from his first marriage.
