The Golden Globes this year were in one word…interesting. As we all know, this is really the only award show of the season that keeps the alcohol flowing during showtime, so you often get a few tipsy presenters and winners up on stage.
But despite the possible drunkenness, what really caught our attention this year were the women over 45 who truly rocked the red carpet and the microphone!
For example, Emma Thompson, 54, stole the show with her impromptu heel-throwing and cocktail-sipping routine as she presented the award for Best Screenplay.
Helen Mirren, 68, simply stunned in a green, long-sleeved gown (photo above), while nominees Sandra Bullock, 49, and Julianna Margulies, 47, chose dresses with plunging necklines.
And while Jacqueline Bisset may have become this year's internet star for all the wrong reasons (watch her speech here), she certainly helped make the 71st Golden Globes memorable!
Take a look at some more photos from our favorite group of leading ladies!
