When marrying Prince William and Prince Harry, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle knew they had big shoes to fill. After losing their mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, the royal brothers have been doing all they can to carry on Diana’s legacy — and their wives have only contributed to that.

“She’d really just be so proud,” Sarah Ferguson said of Diana. “Even before they got married, Diana would have been literally going, ‘I can’t believe these boys have done so well.’ They are such a credit to her.”

The Duchess of York appeared on Good Morning Britain on Nov. 20, where she insisted that Diana would’ve “loved every moment” of her sons’ royal weddings. Fergie also mentioned that Diana would be extremely impressed by how well Kate, 36, and Meghan, 37, transitioned into the royal family. “I honestly think she would be so proud of the wonderful Meghan and Catherine as well,” the 59-year-old Duchess said. “She’d want to embrace them and say, ‘You’re doing well.'”

If anyone knew how proud the Princess of Wales would be, it’s Fergie. Thirty years ago, all eyes were on Diana and Sarah. Over the years, the two were reportedly described as best friends, rivals, and everything in between. However, times have changed and the spotlight is now on Meg and Kate.

Meghan reportedly wants to pursue similar work that Di did. In fact, the former actress has always been inspired by her late mother-in-law. In Andrew Morton’s book, Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, the author claims that Meghan “was intrigued by Diana not just for her style but also for her independent humanitarian mission.” And according to an excerpt in The Sunday Times, “She saw her as a role model.”

We would love nothing more than for Diana to be around for all these amazing life experiences. And if you ask Harry, 34, he thinks Meghan and his mother would share a great bond. “They’d be thick as thieves, without question,” the dad-to-be told the BBC after he got engaged. “I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me.” He also added that Di would be “best friends with Meghan.”

Diana is remembered for all the amazing qualities she possessed that made the world fall in love with her. Fergie, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew and mother to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, remembers Diana for her “enormous compassion.” She also added on the talk-show that “no one made me laugh better” than Diana.

With it being 21 years since Diana tragically passed, Fergie admitted that she continues to “miss her” even though so much time has passed. Don’t worry girl, you’re not alone!
