We’re so sorry to hear this, Salma Hayek. The 51-year-old actress took to Instagram on Wednesday, Jan. 17 to sadly reveal her beloved dog Lupe has died. “With my heart filled with love and pain, I had to say goodbye to my Lupe. I am so grateful for the 18 years she enriched my life with her great spirit. I have no words or tears to describe how much she meant to me. May she run free with my pack of dogs that are already waiting for her in dog heaven. #Dog #BFF #DogLover,” she captioned a sweet snapshot of herself cuddling Lupe.

Several of Salma’s Instagram followers sent their condolences to the Frida star in the comments section. “Sorry for your [loss and] pain… Yes, she will be watching over you and seeing you, love… That’s how it is… They’ll be waiting for us there,” one person wrote with another similarly adding, “Aww! You can see how much she loved you by the look in her eyes.”

Salma previously revealed on Instagram that she and her family adopted Lupe in Mexico City. “I picked up my Lupe almost 16 years ago in the streets of Mexico City. She is still beautiful and healthy bringing joy in our life,” the star captioned a photo of the pup in November 2016. A year earlier, Salma posted a video of herself in bed surrounded by four of her many, many pets! “Good morning! This is Jaja, Toto, Blue, and Diva,” she said, introducing two of her birds and two of her dogs.

In a past interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Salma revealed she’s the proud owner of “five horses, four alpacas, one cat, eight dogs, one hamster, five parrots, [and] two fish.” She continued, “[And] I’m sure I’m forgetting something! You know this is like the Oscars you forgetting someone. Oh I forgot! I have bunny rabbits, I have turkeys, 20 chickens, same with the rabbits, be careful just buy one. I don’t know something is in the air at my ranch, animals keep reproducing!” We love that Salma is such an animal-lover and send our love as she mourns the loss of her beloved dog, Lupe.
