As we all wait for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s baby to arrive, fans are wondering what the royal pair will name their first child — especially since Princess Diana was extremely certain of what she would ended up calling her kids.

Diana, who passed away in 1997 at the age of 36, was very sure she was going to name her first two children Harry and William, even shooting down two other suggestions. “The alternative was Arthur and Albert,” the late royal revealed in Andrew Morton’s book titled Diana: Her True Story. “No thank you,” she added to the options.

Prince Charles‘ late wife said, “There weren’t fights over it. It was just a fait accompli.” The interesting note here is that both options did end up making it into the Princess of Wales children’s names. Her first born’s full name is William Arthur Philip Louis, while his brother is Henry Charles Albert David.

As per royal tradition, babies names aren’t revealed to the masses until a few days after he or she is born, so one must wonder if the Duchess of Sussex, 37, who has been quite different in her approach to things, will follow suit or shake it up. However, the pair has already announced that they will keep the birth of their first child private for now.

”Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The duke and duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family,” a statement released by Buckingham Palace read.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” the message concluded.

It was last year that the Prince of Wales, 70, revealed that Meghan and Harry may be going the more modern route when it comes to choosing a name for their first born. “Just between us … just between us. I suspect that Kylie and Shane may possibly make the short list,” Charles said while speaking at the Australia House in London.

“But ladies and gentlemen I would not hold your breath for Edna or Les,” he added.

Well, we can’t wait to see how this all turns out, but perhaps the former actress is as sure of her baby’s name as Diana was!
