Prince Harry is missing Princess Diana a little extra this year.

The 31-year-old royal kicked off the 2016 Invictus Games on Sunday, May 8 — and wished his late mother was in the stands to witness the success of his special event.

“It’s a huge shame she’s not here,” Harry admitted to Jenna Bush Hager during a recent Today interview. “But I hope she’d be incredibly proud of what we managed to achieve.”

The Invictus Games — which are currently taking place in Orlando, Fla. — are an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event for wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel. This year’s games will run until Thursday, May 12.

It seems Princess Diana has been on Prince George and Princess Charlotte‘s uncle’s mind more often than not lately. He recently opened up about his ongoing mission to keep his mother’s legacy alive. “All I want to do is make my mother incredibly proud,” he said. “That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.” Well you’re proving to do just that, Harry!
