This is so cool! Paul McCartney stepped out in London on Monday, July 23 to take a walk across Abbey Road, 49 years after the Beatles shot their iconic album cover on the same crosswalk.

In a video shared on Paul’s Instagram account, the 76-year-old singer can be seen walking across the street and giving the camera a smile and a wave as crowds gathered around him cheered. The clip was taken by Paul’s 48-year-old daughter, Mary McCartney. Watch the awesome video below!

After the special moment, Paul took to his Instagram Stories to answer a few fan questions about the Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road which featured Paul, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison.

When one fan asked why Paul is the only band member who isn’t wearing shoes on the album’s cover image, he replied, “It was a very hot day and I happened to be wearing sandals like I am today so I just kicked them off because it was so hot we went across barefoot. There was no special meaning.”

According to People, Paul’s visit to Abbey Road wasn’t just to recreate the Beatles’ album cover — he also treated fans to a surprise concert to perform four new songs from his latest album, Egypt Station, which is set to be released on Sept. 7.

This interestingly isn’t the first time Paul recently made headlines for giving Beatles fans a major dose of nostalgia. Earlier this month, the music icon teamed up with Late Late Show host James Corden for an awesome Carpool Karaoke video in which Paul returned to Penny Lane, his childhood home, and more!
