Fans of the beloved fitness guru Richard Simmons can rest easy — he’s okay!

After years of rumors that he was being held hostage in his own home — and a health scare that led to a brief hospitalization — the 68-year-old aerobics instructor is finally speaking out in two back-to-back updates on his official Facebook page.

On April 23, Richard shared a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Cedars-Sinai Medial Center who helped nurse him back to health.

His friends were eager to encourage him in the comments on his post. One wrote, “I’m glad you’re feeling better. Please take good care of yourself. You are so loved.”

It was the second time in a week that Richard shared personal updates on his page — his first post addressed the rumors that he was “missing” and he also thanked fans for their support as he gave an update on his health.

Last week, Richard underwent treatment at an undisclosed hospital in California after days of battling severe indigestion, his manager confirmed to ABC News. After receiving medical care, Richard started to feel better and he is expected to make a full recovery.

His recent Facebook posts were a much-needed positive update for fans who have been worried about Richard because he has not been seen in public since 2014 — and there’s been a lot of speculation for the reason why he disappeared from the spotlight. One of the main reasons is that Richard is being held hostage in his own home by housekeeper Teresa Reveles — and it’s also the main theory in the Missing Richard Simmons podcast. But earlier this year, Richard’s rep slammed the rumors in a statement to E! News.

“Teresa has been working with him for 27 years,” he said. “She takes impeccable care of Richard and she has for as long as I have been working with Richard. So that is a complete load of crap.”

Sources also claim that Richard is free to leave his Hollywood Hills home whenever he pleases — he just chooses to wear disguises to go out in public, according to TMZ.
