Talk about owning a piece of 'Material Girl' history!
More than 200 pieces of Madonna's personal clothing and memorabilia went up for sale at Julien's Auctions' "Icons & Idols: Rock ’n’ Roll" charity event in Beverly Hills over the weekend — and one piece in particular brought in some major money!
The wedding dress the "Like a Virgin" singer, 56, wore to her 1985 nuptials to actor Sean Penn reportedly sold for $81,250.
Julien's Auctions originally estimated the gown would garner between $40,000 and $60,000 at the auction.
Madonna and Sean were married on her 27th birthday, August 16, 1985, in Malibu in front of 220 guests. The couple later divorced in 1989 after just four years of marriage.
Other big ticket items in the sale included the dress Madonna wore in her 1984 "Material Girl" video, which sold for $73,125, and the jacket she wore in the 1985 film Desperately Seeking Susan, which brought in a whopping $252,000.
Her softball uniform from 1992's A League of Their Own went for $31,250 and a gown the star wore in the 1996 film Evita sold for $15,000, according to NBC's LA affiliate.
