Medical drama Grey’s Anatomy is now in its 14th season — that’s 12 whole years that we’ve been emotionally invested in all of its many characters and their tragic deaths and exits from the show. The tear-jerker of a series is soon airing its 300th episode (we can’t believe it either) and is bringing back one our favorite characters, Izzie Stevens (played by Katherine Heigl)… but only in spirit. We’ll take what we can get, right?

The special episode will see the Grey Sloan Memorial doctors treat patients injured in a roller coaster accident, but a couple of them look very similar to George O’Malley (T.R. Knight), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), and Izzie. This sparks memories and flashbacks of the three of them, who will (in a way) be reuniting with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Alex Karev (Justin Chambers)!

“Cristina, George, and Izzie, we’re thinking about a lot during this episode because our three guest actors on the show actually really look like them and remind the rest of the doctors of those characters,” Sarah Drew, who plays April Kepner, told Entertainment Weekly about the Fab Five interns coming back together. “That causes the original group to really remember those people well and want to fight for these ones to live.”

If you need a refresher, Izzie was diagnosed with a brain tumor after she began hallucinating that her dead ex-fiancé, Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) was alive. She goes through a hasty marriage with Alex and after her cancer treatment works, she decides to leave her life in Seattle behind in season six. It is alleged, however, that Izzie was written out of the show after disagreements with the show’s creator Shonda Rhimes. The 300th episode of Grey’s Anatomy will be airing Thursday, Nov. 9 at 8/7c on ABC!
