For Julie Andrews‘ 83rd birthday on Oct. 1, she received a sweet Princess Diaries birthday shout-out from one of her dearest friends, Anne Hathaway, on Instagram! In the caption, Anne wrote a heartwarming poem to her mentor, who taught her how to be humble in Hollywood.

“The importance of grace; The knowledge that power is nothing without respect; Why one must have patience, positivity, perspective, manners, kindness, and humility. Always, To everyone, (No exceptions); The joy in treating people as a gift rather than a burden; How far choosing gratitude can get you… If I know anything about any of this, It’s because I was lucky enough to have learned from the very best at the very beginning. Happy Birthday Julie, Queen Eternal. All my love, Annie,” the 35-year-old penned in the caption.

In the throwback photo, Anne and Julie are both dressed as the royal characters they portrayed in the 2001 rom-com The Princess Diaries. The movie tells the story of Queen Clarisse Renaldi (played by Julie), who transforms her American 16-year-old granddaughter Mia Thermopolis (played by Anne) into the princess of Genovia.

The Princess Diaries and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement were the only two movies that Anne and Julie starred in together. And after Anne played Mia on-screen, she became a very notable actress in Hollywood.

She later went on to act alongside Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, Steve Carell in Get Smart, and Sandra Bullock in Ocean’s Eight. Anne’s successful career has been a direct reflection of Mia’s transformation in The Princess Diaries.

Like Mia, Anne learned a lot from her mentor Julie, so it was only fitting that she would share a photo of the exact moment that Mia felt grateful to Queen Clarisse. The beautiful snap has already received over one million likes on Instagram — and counting!
