So SweetJohn Travolta Has Been “Wonderful” to ‘Grease’ Co-Star Olivia Newton-John Amid Her Breast Cancer Battle
It seems John Travolta will be hopelessly devoted to Olivia Newton-John forever! The actress recently revealed she’s battling breast cancer again — and apparently her Grease co-star John Travolta has been there for her every step of the way!
“He’s been wonderful. He calls and checks up on me,” Olivia, 69, said of John. The actress previously revealed her diagnosis in late May. “I have had a long-running issue with sciatica and I need to take this time to rest and deal with this very painful condition. My husband John is taking great care of me and I want to thank all my family, friends and fans for their concern, love, support and good wishes,” she wrote at the time. “I look forward to returning to performing soon!”
Apparently, John, 63, was even supportive of the blonde beauty before she made the unfortunate announcement. “He came to one of my shows — right before this happened, actually, right before my diagnosis,” the singer explained. “I saw him and I was hobbling around the dinner table because I was having trouble sitting down. And he was concerned.” She added that he even “called her up with some ideas of people to see.”
To no surprise, John has gushed about how great of a person Olivia is. “She’s always been an incredible human being and an inspiration to millions,” he has said. “I know her so well. If we all put our intentions for her to get through this, she will feel it and it will support her. We love her and she loves us.”
And while Olivia appreciates the support during this difficult time, she has one request: don’t call her a survivor. “A survivor sounds like someone clinging onto a lifeboat, to me. A thriver is someone that’s already off the boat and on land,” Olivia shared. “I’m not going to be one of those statistics. I’m going to be fine. And I will probably deal with this in my life as an ongoing thing. think that you can live with cancer like you can live with other things — if you take care of yourself.” She added, “It taught me I’m stronger than I thought I was.”
