Jamie Lee Curtis Reveals What She’s Learned From Her Superstar Parents Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis
At 60, Jamie Lee Curtis is more bankable than ever, with last year’s sequel to Halloween breaking box-office records. She attributes much of her show-business savvy to her parents.
“One of the great benefits of being the daughter of great film stars, Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, is I had the opportunity to watch them play the game,” Jamie Lee said at the recent ICG Publicists Awards in [Los Angeles]. “Their example was crucial.”
While Tony and Janet divorced when Jamie Lee was only 3, “my mother and stepfather [Robert Brandt] were married for 43 years, so I had a very good role model for that,” she has said. Perhaps as a result, “I’m still married to my first husband [Christopher Guest], and we proudly have two beautiful children,” Jamie Lee told reporters at the event. “And my daughter, Annie, is going to be married this year, I’m just saying.”
In a previous interview with Good Housekeeping, Jamie gushed about Christopher and said that they get along so well because they have different personalities. “My husband and I are opposites. We have been for 33 years, and we always will be,” Jamie revealed. “He’s an intellectual, and I was from the movie star/alcoholic/drug addict side, where education was not the most important thing. We don’t listen to the same radio station, we don’t read the same paper, we don’t go to bed at the same time. But we read the same history books.”
“For our 30th anniversary we both read a book called Undaunted Courage, the story of Lewis and Clark,” she continued. “Then we took eight friends and retraced a section of the Missouri River in canoes that followed the path of their expedition. We’re a little nerdy.” Sounds like Jamie and Christopher have the perfect marriage!
