How did Elton John recently celebrate his 70th birthday? With his two adorable sons and a huge star-studded party!
On Saturday, March 25, Elton held a birthday bash featuring Hollywood A-listers and British royalty, but it was the musician's morning celebrations that had him tooting a happy tune. The star took to Instagram to share how his two biggest fans helped him mark the milestone.
Dressed in a lush patterned robe and wearing his signature tinted shades, Elton's two sons, six-year-old Zachary and four-year-old Elijah, treated their daddy to a delicious chocolate cake.
“Birthday bliss @davidfurnish #HappyBirthdayElton,” the iconic Brit penned alongside the snap.
After spending the day with his two golden boys, Elton and hubby David Furnish headed to the singer's lavish LA birthday bash.
The gala, held at the Hammer Museum, had more star power than the Grammys. Along with marking his birthday, the event was also a celebration of Elton's lengthy career.
Hosted by Rob Lowe, guests included Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, Sharon Osbourne, James Corden, Heidi Klum, and even Prince Harry!
Stevie treated the room to his rendition of Elton's 1973 classic "Daniel." He was then joined by Lady Gaga for one the best "Happy Birthday" sing-alongs of all time.
The songstress — who is godmother to Elton and David's two sons — dipped into her back catalog, belting out "Born This Way" for the crowd.
"Some people don’t like birthdays, they don’t like celebrating, they don’t want to know about them, and I’ve always enjoyed my birthday," Elton mused about his 70th.
"Seventy sounds so archaic, doesn’t it?" he continued.
"When I was growing up, 70 sounded like the end of the world. But things have changed — you’re only as old as you feel inside," he said during his party.
