Welcome back, Gumby!

Eddie Murphy, 53, will appear on the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary special on Feb. 15, ‘The Today Show’ confirmed on Friday morning.

The comedian’s homecoming on the variety show will be extra memorable, as it is the first time the ‘Dreamgirl’ actor has returned to the program in more than 30 years!

Eddie is known for playing claymation character Gumby on ‘SNL.’

“It just never worked out where the timing was right for me to do it,” he previously told ‘News One Now‘ of his absence. “They’re having a 40th anniversary… I’m going to that. And that will be the first time I’ve been back since I left.”

Eddie last appeared on ‘SNL’ as a host on Dec. 15, 1984, 10 months after his final show as a cast member. He joined the show in 1981 at age 19.
