Lookin’ good, Drew Barrymore! The 42-year-old actress is no stranger to sharing up close and personal photos on her Instagram account — but when one of her recent posts garnered some harsh criticism from online bullies, Drew decided to do something about it. “Haters gonna hate. Yesterday, I saw comments on my Instagram feed about my post that were mean, cruel, and ugly. It hurt me,” the mom-of-two wrote on the photo-sharing site on Wednesday, Nov. 8.

“And you know what women do when they get hurt? They pick themselves up! Go get a haircut. Put on some lipstick and chant, ‘if you don’t have something nice to say… don’t say anything at all.’ Pretty is on the inside. But a little love on the outside never hurts. #ThisFeedIsForLovers,” she continued. Along with her positive message, Drew shared a cute new pic of her newly chopped locks — watch the video below to see her chic haircut!

Though Drew recently launched her own cosmetics line, Flower Beauty, the star still loves sharing her other favorite products with her fans online. In February, the Fever Pitch star took to Instagram to give her 7.8 million followers a look inside her bathroom cabinets. While using the hashtag #BeautyJunkieWeek, Drew revealed her favorite tools to keep her curly hair looking its best are the $30 Babyliss Pro TT Tourmaline Titanium Travel Dryer and the $13 Wet Brush. “Best little blow dryer. And has a low setting that kind of diffuses, which is good for us girls with curls! If ya know what I mean. Love this red tool,” she captioned a pic of the hairdryer.

#beautyjunkieweek is over and all I can say is I am just a true blue beauty junkie myself. I haven't been paid of influenced to suggest anything in these posts. These are just things I love or have discovered that I wanted to share. I am convinced if we take good care of ourselves, we will feel better and less distracted by our own funny insecurities. I don't have time to go to pamper myself, because i just don't, so I am always thrilled to find at home solutions. And I don't want to mess with my face, so I try to find myself ways and products to look my best naturally. I will continue to travel the world, find innovative labs, and educate myself about al the wonderful possibilities out there for us! I love being feminine. A woman. A mom. And always, a celebrator of all things #girl #beautyiswithin #therestofmydrawers #researchcolletion

As for her makeup philosophy, Drew has said, “happiness is the best makeup any woman can wear!” She continued, “It’s all about the inside…that’s where the poison or the sunshine lays.” In a 2015 interview with Marie Claire magazine, she similarly revealed her skincare routine. “[I swear by] washing your face morning, noon, and night — most especially after those long nights. Fall asleep with your makeup on and you’ll wake up doomed!”
