She’s just being Dolly! In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, country singer Dolly Parton opened up about not having children. The blonde beauty has been married to Carl Thomas Dean since 1966.

“God has a plan for everything and I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids, so that everybody’s kids could be mine,” she explained. Dolly, however, is the godmother to former Disney star Miley Cyrus.

This is hardly the first time she’s defended her reasoning for not expanding her family. Back in 2014, she told Glamour UK, “My husband and I, when we first got married, we thought about if we had kids, ‘What would they look like? Would they be tall because he’s tall? Or would they be little squats like me?’ If we’d had a girl, she was gonna be called Carla. Anyway, we talked about it, and we dreamed it, but it wasn’t meant to be. Now that we’re older? We’re glad.”

She continued at the time, “I would have been a great mother, I think. I would probably have given up everything else. Because I would’ve felt guilty about that, if I’d have left them. Everything would have changed. I probably wouldn’t have been a star.” Their plan seems to be working, considering they’ve been married for over 50 years — which is basically forever in Hollywood time.

Dolly’s rarely-seen husband, Carl, allegedly told her at the beginning of their relationship that he was not a fan of living his life in the spotlight. He allegedly told her, “Dolly, I want you to have everything you want, and I’m happy for you, but don’t you ever ask me to go to another one of them dang things again!”
