There will be no battle over Casey Kasem’s body after the radio personality’s daughters Kerri and Julie honored their stepmother Jean Kasem’s wishes that it be released to her.

Following the death of the “American Top 40” host at the age of 82 on June 15, Kerri is said to have immediately obliged to her stepmother’s request, telling the hospice where Casey died that Jean would be handling funeral arrangements.

According to TMZ, a filing of Casey’s health directive indicates the beloved host wanted a burial, and it is believed his body remains in Washington for the time being.

The decision comes as a surprise after months of hostility between Casey’s children from his first marriage and current wife Jean.

The drama truly came to a head in May when Jean secretly moved her husband from a care facility in California to Washington state. From then on, it was a constant war between both parties for conservatorship over the disc jockey’s health, which a judge ultimately awarded to Kerri.

The voiceover actor suffered from Lewy Body disease, a type of dementia similar to Alzheimer’s, which left him, tragically, without the ability to speak. He had been hospitalized over the last two weeks and had his feeding tube removed last week at the request of his daughter.

Many will remember the radio legend for his on-air enthusiasm and love of music, but also his signature closing line:

“Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars”
