Barbara Pierce Bush Marries Craig Coyne In Secret Wedding Ceremony — See The Pics!
Wedding bells are ringing for Barbara Pierce Bush! Just 20 members of the 36-year-old former First Daughter’s family gathered on Sunday, Oct. 7 to watch her tie the knot with her fiancé of five weeks, screenwriter Craig Coyne, in a secret wedding ceremony
The “very short, sweet ceremony,” as Barbara described it to People, took place at the Bush estate in Kennebunkport, ME. “We’ve been excited to do such a small wedding with just our family,” she added.
In attendance was her father, former President George W. Bush (who walked her down the aisle), her mother, Laura Bush, her grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush, her twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager (who was the Matron of Honor), and her daughters, Margaret, 5, and Poppy, 3, as flower girls. The bride’s aunt Dorothy “Doro” Bush Koch officiated. The groom’s family, parents Darlene and Edward James Coyne, Jr, brother Edward Coyne III, and sister Katie were also at the special event.
And even though Barbara’s grandmother, Barbara Bush, sadly died in April at age 92, she still remembered her in a special way at her nuptials. “It’s really sweet. The ‘something borrowed’ that I’m wearing is this bracelet that my grandfather gave to my grandmother on their 70th anniversary,” Barbara gushed, adding that her “something blue” was a pair of earrings from Jenna.
Fans were speculating that Barbara was getting married this weekend in the days leading up to it. On the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 2, Page Six reported that invitations for a “celebration” taking place this past Friday, Oct. 5 at NYC’s Tribeca Loft were recently sent to guests. Barbara had been privately dating Craig for about seven months and since the invites said, “Join us to toast Barbara and Craig,” people understandably thought the two could be newly engaged.
The invitations — which were allegedly created by Paperless Post — also included an interesting note about the party’s dress code. “Sequins highly encouraged to get your groove on,” the notes allegedly instructed.
However, when Page Six reached out to the Bush family’s rep about the engagement and wedding rumors, the spokesperson said, “Unfortunately, this is not true.” Clearly, they weren’t telling the truth!
Unlike her twin sister, Jenna, also 36 — who married Henry, 40, in May 2008 — Barbara has never been married before this and has chosen to keep her past relationships out of the public eye. Before being introduced to current boyfriend Craig by a mutual friend, Barbara dated Panamanian painter Miky Fabrega for four years, ping-pong club SPiN co-owner Franck Raharinosy, and filmmaker Andrew Jenks. Congrats to the happy couple!
