Congratulations are in order! Andy Cohen shared some very exciting news on the final live broadcast of his 2018 talk show, Watch What Happens Live, on Thursday, Dec. 20: he’s going to be a dad! The 50-year-old revealed to his fans that he’s expecting baby No. 1 via surrogacy.
“I’ve always tried to be as transparent as possible about my life. I overshare and I expect everyone around me to do the same and tonight I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, fair amount of prayers and the benefit of science, if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time, I’m going to become a father thanks to a wonderful surrogate who is carrying my future,” Andy shared with the audience, who reacted with a roaring applause.
He continued, “Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something I’ve wanted in my heart for my entire life and while it has taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be my most rewarding chapter yet.” Andy did not share the sex of the baby and whether or not he plans to raise the child as a single parent.
However, it seems Andy’s future son or daughter will have some competition considering Andy’s close bond with his rescue beagle, Wacha. “I’m an obsessive dog father!” he quipped in a previous exclusive interview with Closer Weekly. “I love him, and we have a lot of fun together.”
It seems 2019 is going to be Andy’s best year yet. On top of that fact that he’ll be fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a dad, when Closer asked him what his dream job was as a kid, he sweetly replied: “I think it’s what I’m doing now, which is so crazy!” We’re so happy for him!
