Tom Selleck’s schedule has freed up more since wrapping filming on season 14 of Blue Bloods over the summer. Now, all eyes are on the acting legend to see if he revives one of his most popular characters — Jesse Stone.

During a Friday, December 6, interview with Parade, Tom, 79, was asked if there was another Jesse Stone movie in the pipeline.

“I haven’t worked on it yet,” he admitted. “It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now. There’ve been quite a few years between shows. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable character. Everywhere I go one of the things I get asked is, ‘When can I see another Jesse Stone?’”

Tom last appeared as Jesse in the 2015 film Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise. It’s a character he’s been playing since 2005, spanning nine films. The Emmy winner began portraying Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods in 2010 but fans have continued to beg for another Jesse Stone film.

Before the second half of season 14 of Blue Bloods aired on CBS, Tom was asked a similar question about whether or not he had another Jesse Stone film in the works.

“It looks like now I might have to write [a script for another movie]” he told TV Insider in October. “It wouldn’t be a final one because everybody loves it. Jesse is a great character, and it would be fascinating to find out where he is quite a few years later. But I need to regroup; I don’t know what’s next, but assuming the phone doesn’t stop ringing, I’m going to keep working.”

Obviously, saying goodbye to Blue Bloods hasn’t been easy for Tom and the rest of the Reagan crew. But luckily for fans, two episodes remain in the police procedural drama, promising a satisfying ending.

“How I’m feeling is kind of an ongoing process,” Tom said during Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy on November 29. “I mean if you work for 14 years it’s a part of your life. I miss my Blue Bloods family.”

And fans seem to feel the same way about the show leaving CBS after more than a decade, leaving comments on social media about saving the series.

“I need this show to go on forever,” one person wrote in a comment on the show’s official Instagram page on Thursday, December 5.

Another person said, “Please save Blue Bloods it’s a great program.”

“Please!!!! Please allow someone to pick up the series or please bring it back! It is and has been a family we all have loved, cried with, learned from, laughed with and grown with! Please!” another person wrote in a comment. “It has given light to first responder families, like mine, New York, and family as a concept that is so needed in today’s everyday! Blue Bloods has been life changing for me but I know also so many have changed their hearts towards first responders because of the lessons taught on the episodes! Please please!”
